Milford Sound at sunrise. The Eglinton Valley. Seals, dolphins and Fiordland crested penguins. Most content creators travel the world hoping to shoot places like this. You'll be paid to do it, week in, week out. 

Southern Discoveries is Milford Sound's original operator, with 70+ years of showing people one of the most extraordinary places on earth, cruises, coach journeys, Small Group Travel, scenic flights and the Queenstown Wine Tour. Every one is a story waiting to be told well, and we're looking for someone to tell it. 

About the role 

This is a brand-new role on a 12-month fixed term: we're bringing content creation in-house for the first time, and you'll be the one who shapes it, building our channels up for the season ahead and setting the standard for what a dedicated creator makes possible here. 

You'll plan it, shoot it, edit it and publish it. Working with our GM Marketing on strategy, you'll head into the field across Milford Sound, Te Anau and Queenstown, on the water, on the road and in the air – and turn what you capture into content that stops thumbs. You'll create mainly for Southern Discoveries, with lighter-touch support for Milford Sound Select, Queenstown Charters and the Fiordland i-SITE, each in its own voice, and supply creative to our agency for paid social. 

Regular travel is part of the deal and, honestly, it's the best part: early starts, one of the most scenic drives on the planet, and the best light you'll ever shoot in. 

What you'll do 

• Capture photo and video on location across Milford Sound, Te Anau and Queenstown 
• Edit and produce short-form video, reels, stories and stills for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube 
• Plan and run the content calendar with the GM Marketing, and publish and caption across our channels 
• Coordinate shoot days with our partner operators, and run our influencer and creator collaborations end-to-end, from finding the right partners to hosting them on location 
• Engage with guests on location and with our community online, and amplify great user-generated content 
• Watch what performs and adjust — format, frequency and platform mix guided by the numbers, with a simple monthly view of what's working 
• Keep our content library organised and look after the kit you shoot with 

What you'll bring 

• Proven skill shooting and editing short-form video – your reel will do most of the talking 
• Fluency across the major social platforms and a feel for what works where 
• Confidence with Premiere Pro, CapCut, the Adobe suite or equivalent, and the writing agility to switch between brand voices 
• Warmth with people, self-direction in the field, and comfort working outdoors and on the water in all seasons 
• A full, clean NZ driver licence, willingness to travel regularly, and the right to work in New Zealand for the full term 
• Bonus points for drone certification, stills photography, creator partnership experience or a tourism background
