An opportunity has arisen for an experienced chef to work on our daily cruise vessels and in our cafe in Milford Sound
What will you be doing?
- Working under the Head chef, as part of the team. cooking food in our cafe and on our vessels
- Preparing cafe style food and also working with the team to produce a quality buffet and meal offering on our vessels.
- Where required, assist in planning menus, estimating food costs, and ordering food supplies
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Discussing food preparation issues with the Head Chef, and kitchen and hospitality staff
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures to more junior members of the team
- Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
- Training seasonal staff in the kitchen and galley as required
- Freezing and preserving foods as requested by the Head or Sous Chef
What do we need from you?
- A passion for cooking delicious food
- At least 3 years' experience working as a chef in a busy, quality establishment
- Strong Food Safety skills and meticulous attention to hygiene
- Strong work ethic, 'can-do' attitude and the ability to self-manage
- Able to cope with the challenge of living and working remotely and in small kitchen spaces
This is a live-in position, subsidised accommodation in own room with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, minimum 70 hours per fortnight, pay rate $30 per hour.
