Join our awesome team as a Scuba Diver/Boat Host in Milford Sound.  

Southern Discoveries is currently seeking 2 experienced Divers for our Milford Sound Operation.  

As a diver, you will be diving up to twice a week to check and do basic maintenance and cleaning on our underwater observatory structure.  

Tasks include 

• Regular maintenance including the cleaning of the underwater observatory windows 
• Routine maintenance of the organisms and coral gardens as required. 
• Any other reasonable diving requests made by employer 

When not diving, you will be working in our Cruise Operations Team as a Boat Host, welcoming and looking after our guests, participating in the daily running and cleaning of the boat, working in basic food preparation alongside our team of experienced chefs, and ensuring our guests are safe and cared for at all times. 

As one of our dedicated team you will have great communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire for excellence in all that you do. To be successful in this role your will have the following key skills, qualifications, and attributes: 

• Recent diving experience and a qualification PADI Dive Master or above, or Rescue Diver with at least 60 logged dives. 
• New Zealand WorkSafe – Occupational Diver COC Medical.  
• NZ Air Fillers Qualification and experience using a compressor. 
• Current First Aid Certificate 
• Computer literate with good written communication skills 
• Excellent understanding of the Health & Safety requirements for scuba diving, and physically capable of dealing with emergency situations 
• Calm and organised 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Team player 
• Punctual, trustworthy, and reliable 

Preference will be given to candidates with a current relevant WorkSafe COC (Tourism, or Construction level 1), but training is also available for the right candidate. 

This is a fulltime live-in position, minimum 70 hours per fortnight over a 10-day on 4-day off roster, which will include some weekends and public holidays. We provide heavily subsidised accommodation (all staff have their own room) and a fully stocked staff kitchen as part of the job package.
